Modded Euros is an online retail company based in West Chester, Pennsylvania, that was founded by Sean Dawes, Jim Bianco, and Nate Edwards in 2013. Today, Moddedeuros.com is a leading eCommerce for all aftermarket performance parts for Audi, BMW, and Volkswagen cars, well known for its great selection of top brands, super competitive pricing, prompt customer care and service, and incredibly fast shipping.

But to stop moving forward and get better is not an option for its tireless founders, so they reached out to Nebulab looking for a development partner who could maintain and improve their website and their competitive advantage. One of the first projects Nebulab worked on for Modded Euros was to make a complete redesign for refining the user experience and general impression of the brand.

Based on the needs along the road, we put together small teams of experts able to cover different aspects and requirements, from UX design to DevOps. Changing teams whenever needed is a piece of cake if you never forget to focus on and maintain code quality, a consistent development process, and a complete test suite!

Main outcomes

Spree to Solidus migration

We highly recommended migrating the store from Spree to Solidus before the redesign to improve performance and the team's ability to extend the store. Since Modded Euros has a complex system of categories and options, and many other tricky features, this particular migration to Solidus was very challenging. It required much more effort and specific attention than usual, but it was successfully accomplished.

QA & Workflow design

One of our primary goals as a technical partner is to make the collaboration painless and stress-free for every single person involved in the project; that’s why we created a bespoke workflow for Modded Euros that helps quickly deliver high-quality results through better communication.

A brand new mobile-first design

Enhancing user satisfaction by improving the usability, accessibility, and efficiency of an eCommerce website is key to boost conversions and client retention, and it needs time and study. Before starting with creating and optimizing Modded Euros’ UX, we conducted a UX Audit to define all the pain points with a view to designing the best practical and visually engaging solution that meets both business goals and users needs. Then we prototyped, tested, and refined together with the client all the actionable solutions we brought until we got a coherent, smooth, and satisfying user experience. After that, we focused on the site's eye appeal to make it pleasant, contemporary, and relevant to all the potential and regular customers and increase engagement. At that point, everything was ready for the design-to-code transition. A well-thought-out UX strategy and visual design can really make the difference and give you a strong competitive advantage, as it was for Modded Euros.

Custom stock workflows

We customized the stock workflows of Modded Euros and, in the process, we also gave back to the Open Source community by contributing to improve Solidus project.
